Project Weeks in the
Shanti Ananda School

Actually, what is a project week?

It's a crosscurricular time in which our students creatively devote themselves to a specific, interdisciplinary topic.

We hold Project Week once a year; and in addition every two months there's a three days "Mini Project Week".

Current topics for the real life

The teachers choose topics that fits the concept of our humanistic nature education, like "The Forest", "Healthy Food", "Environmental Protection & Climate" and so on.

Of course, we cover all important everyday topics such like "Road Safety Education", "Modern Technology" or "Theater & Role-playing Games" and more.

Thus the project weeks expand the opportunities for our students to create with imagination and strength.

The project week about
trees and their healing power
is particularly one of the most profound!

Hug Me - I Heal You

Hug Me
I Heal You

Hugging a tree to feel better afterwards is an ancient healing method that is now even scientifically proven.

This is often called forest therapy or forest bathing.

It is therefore all the more remarkable that Headmaster Raja received this idea in meditation.

Raja: "In meditation I was thinking about trees. Do they have feelings? If they have happy or unhappy feelings, how should it be? I was searching and started to hug the trees. When we open our heart we can understand automatically. So I experience, why don't we do this topic in our school? Trees give to us food, fruits and oxygen but we are not grateful to them. We have to bring awareness to the students, teachers and people outside also. That is why I started hugging the trees."

In July 2024 we had the first Tree Hug Project,
and from now on we do it every year again

"Nature Concept School"

It's a real advantage that we, as a "Nature Concept School", have planted over 3000 trees since its inception!

Without this, Raja would not have been able to achieve his vision. Mother
nature itself is the best teacher!

Our children learn to have contact with nature and be grateful every day from an early age.

Contact with trees and plants has a positive effect on health. Depression and anxiety are less common, which you can see in the laughter of the children.

Nature-care is Self-care
Nature-care is
Self-care

The students researched informations about trees and plants and developed imaginative creations.

And environmental destruction is an obvious issue that they expressed in their own specific way.

The classrooms become exhibitions and every time visitors are invited and heartly welcome.

The exhibition is opened and guests are arriving. There is a lively exchange between the schools themselves. Our topics are often new territory worth knowing for parents and other adults too.

   Welcome!

Our students worked in five groups (7th grade & LKG, 6th grade & UKG, 5th & 1st grade, 4th grade solo and 2nd & 3rd grade).

The researched information was written down on large pieces of cardboard, they painted, made crafts and designed imaginative installations on the classroom floors.

The children understand that trees and all of nature teach us patience and humility. They understand with playful joy that the deeper meaning of Nature-care is Self-care.
