Since 2011 we produce eco sustainable clay bricks to build up our buildings. Red soil, cement, sand and water are mixed; the bricks are produced under high pressure with a brick machine - they don't not have to be burnt… Coordinator Chandra Mohan attended two courses in Auroville to learn this technique. The firm and solid structure of the bricks is a result of the high pressure while being produced. Afterwards they have to stay in the brick fabrication hall for three days. Watering is necessary three times daily for one month. In research experiences natural clay bricks of this type were put into water for five years (!) without losing their shape! Five different forms or modules enable us to produce 20 different types of bricks.

Lower room temperature in the buildings because the bricks need more time to absorb the heat.

Better for the health because they don’t have poisonous emissions.

Plasting and painting are not needed.

Building of walls takes less time.

Michael Reisinger with profound technical know how gave advice how to fix the brick machine in the ground of the brick fabrication hall in a professional way in 2012. Because the bricks are pressed with high pressure the machine was shaking after being used for some years. Now it is safely fixed – very useful for the brick fabrication.

In teamwork we built a sieving machine on our own; welder, electrician, project manager and coordinator were the engineering team supported by Herbert Mueller who donated the money needed for the machine. It was an extraordinary experience for all members; and we are very proud that we succeeded to build this machine with our team. The process of sieving the red soil is easier to arrange, and the output of the red soil increases. A cement mixing machine joined in May 2013.
